Turgay Ciner: It has no deficiency but has surplus from thermal power plants in Europe

Turgay Ciner, the Chairman of the Board of Ciner Holding, made speech in the opening of Silopi Thermal Power Plant that is the largest investment of southeast.

Official opening of first unit of Şırnak Silopi Thermal Power Plant started to be built by Ciner Group in 2006 was made by the Prime Minister Erdoğan.

Foundation of two other units was laid in addition to opening of the first unit of 135 megawatts. Silopi Thermal Power Plant, which will cost 800 million dollars when it is completed, has a great importance as the largest local investment at zero point. Silopi Thermal Power Plant, which will have established power of 405 megawatts in total, consists of 3 units each of which has power of 135 megawatts.

1 PERCENT OF THE ESTABLISHED POWER

The power plant, using asphaltite mine as a main fuel, has circulation fluidized-bed boiler technology that is used commonly in the world for long years and enters into clean coal technologies class.

No toxic gas is thrown out thanks to this technology. Silopi Thermal Power Plant, whose first unit has been operating for a while and whose official opening will be made as of today, will carry out activity fully with full capacity at the end of 2014. The power plant, which will generate electricity of 2.7 billion kilowatts per year and has established power of 405 megawatts, corresponds to 1 percent of the total established power of Turkey.

Turgay Ciner, the Chairman of the Board of Ciner Holding, who made speech in the opening ceremony, said the followings:

"My dear Prime Minister, esteemed Ministers, esteemed deputies, esteemed friends from Silopi, friends, welcome.

I will give brief information about Silopi Thermal Power Plant. This thermal power plant was built according to fluidized-bed system, it is environmentally-friendly. It has no deficiency but has surplus from the thermal power plants in Germany, America and England. It will carry out activity when it is completed as 135x3, 405 megawatts. Currently, 135 watts operate. We have 567 personnel. We provide employment for approximate one thousand people. When the power plant is completed, we have about 500 personnel and the number of people to whom we provided employment will be around 2000-2500. I thank as a businessman all my citizens, friends so that you gave these chances to us during your power of 10 years.
We give scholarship for 400 university students with organization of our esteemed governor in Silopi and Şırnak without provision. We are building two elementary schools and 1 high school. We are making these to participate to people living here.

My dear Prime Minister, this is the third time you came to our plant, you honored us, thank you so much. Our previous plants are continuing with success. This is our third plant, when it is completed, I hope that I invite you for the largest soda plant production of the world. Welcome. I express my sincere thanks”.
