Power plant for Konya from Ciner Group

Ciner Group obtained production license for 49 years from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority for thermal power plant of 500 megawatts to be operated with local lignite in Ilgın, Konya.

It is stipulated that power plant to be operated with local lignite and fuel oil generates electricity of 3.3 billion kilowatts (kWh).
While local resources gains larger importance gradually due to the fact that energy item occupies a big place in the current account deficit, a new investment of Ciner Group was brought to agenda on this area. The power plant of 500 mw, which will be established in Konya, will operate with local lignite, and lignite mine will be developed in open pit to provide fuel for the power plant, and will be used in operation of the power plant.

Steam turbines, each of which has capacity more than gross 250 mw, will be available in the power plant. Konya-Ilgın Elektrik Üretim ve Ticaret A.S. belonging to Ciner Group will establish energy power plant and develop mining enterprise itself. Mining rights of the lignite reserves within the said region are held by Konya-Ilgın Company. It is anticipated that lignite reserve in the field approximately values at 138 million tons. Coal of approximate 3.5 million tons will be produced per year to be consumed by two production units of the power plant by basing on rendering service for 30 years.
