Prime Minister Erdoğan: Ciner Companies should be increased

Official opening of first unit of Şırnak Silopi Thermal Power Plant started to be built by Ciner Group in 2006 was made by the Prime Minister Erdoğan.

“THIS POWER PLANT HAS DIFFERENT IMPORTANCE FOR US”

The Prime Minister Erdoğan who made speech before opening said the followings:
“Today, we are opening first unit of our thermal power plant of 3 units here. When there is work and road, there is food. Are you opening Cizre Airport? Did you see? Would you believe this 15 years ago? This is civilization. Here we are. Do not be worried. These roads will be built.

I thank especially Turgay Ciner and all members of Ciner Group. I congratulate all the personnel who contributed to the plant. My esteemed brothers; this investment is not ordinary investment. This investment has some examples. This investment has value of 800 million dollars in total. When the entire is completed, employment will be provided for 2 thousand and 100 people. This employment will not be provided by distant places. My brothers from Silopi will work here. Thus, protect Silopi, Şırnak and Cizre.

“BOTH REGION AND TURKEY WILL GAIN WITH THIS POWER PLANT”

This environmentally-friendly power plant, operating with local coal, had a different importance for us in terms of the region where it was established. We thank those putting stone on stone in this country. An investment of 800 million dollars is made for the place no one comes, you should thank.

We will work and produce too much and these places will become good. When the entire of this plant is completed, electricity generated from here will be two times more than Şırnak. In other words, Şırnak will not have any problem that ‘I have no electricity’. Thus, we should thank and be grateful. We will do it. We will import natural gas 150 million dollars less per year. The region and Turkey will gain in this way.

62 percent of the electricity was generated by state 10 years ago. Today, generations made by the private sector with the same rate.

“IT IS A LIE THAT IT POLLUTES THE ENVIRONMENT”

Someone says that; this power plant will pollute the environment. The all is lie. The youth should know this well. Cutting-edge technology is applied here. And all the things to emission volume are made with these technologies here. Here is the smoke. Is there any black smoke? But someone does not want that Şırnak, Silopi and Turkey develop. They do not want that unemployed youth earn money.

“CINER COMPANIES SHOULD BE INCREASED”

The investors did not come here due to different reasons in the past. Thus, Ciner Companies should be increased. Although we personally directed, we could not bring this to demanded level. When solution process succeeds and terrorism falls of the agenda of this region, I hope that we will clear the last next hurdle”.
